It was Sunday, and not having much of a radio, we did not know until we got to church at night and were told. It sure put a hush on things, as we knew our men would go to war. Loran was teaching school in Guymon that year, but he quit and went to the Air Force. Brothers-in-law Warren and Clyde also went. Those were very hard years on our family.
