Packard of Frankfort; Mrs. Clark Myers, Delphos, KS; Mrs. Margaret Carson, Palisades, CO, Mrs. Mary Brickel, Denver, and Mrs. Salome Spence, Spokane, WA, and a number of other relatives, who have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. Short services were held at the Padden Funeral Chapel at 2:00 o'clock March 18th with Rev. R.G. Anderson in charge. Burial was at the Sunny Lane Cem. in Okla. City where services were also held. He lived in McLoud, Lincoln Co., OK. He served in the military in Kansas State Guard. Company A, 31st. Battalion, Frankfort, KS. Bought a farm with a dirt cellar for a house, and built a new house. Lived for many years in McLoud, Oklahoma as a farmer and stockman. A photo published in a Frankfort, KS newspaper in an article by Oretha Ruetti shows an old photo of the 1887 "Frankfort Bee Band". It includes C.F. "Neal" Reust as a coronet player. A flyer announcing the 1957 Oklahoma State Trap Shoot, July 12-14, 1957, hosted by the Capital City Gun Club on the NE bank of Lake Hefner, Okla. City, lists "C.F. Ruest" as the state singles champion in 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903, and 1905. As of 2002, his great grandson, Dale Francis Reust owns a clock which Cornelius won in a shooting contest. Listed on pages 136A-B of the 1900 census for Kickapoo township, Lincoln Co., Oklahoma.
Cornelius Fredrick (Neal) REUST and Margaret Ann (Maggie) MYERS were married on 13 Mar 1885 in Marysville, KS. Newspaper article on the event of "50th. Wedding Anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. C.F. Reust, McLoud, Oklahoma". "Seventeen years had quickly passed since the 8 children had all been home together. For several it was a long trail that led to 'Home Sweet Home' in order to be there Wednesday, March 18 to help their Daddy and Mother celebrate their 50th. Wedding Anniversary. The day was made to fit the occasion, a golden sun sending its beaming golden rays upon the golden earth of Central Oklahoma. Mr. &. Mrs. Reust, better known to their friends and relatives of Kansas an Neal and Maggie, waited anxiously and patiently until the last child had arrived, and relations too, who had been invited to the wedding dinner. The home was beautifully decorated with yellow wedding bells and blooming and cut flowers. The dinner being the main feature of the day was one long to be remembered by all present. The long table arrayed in white linen (extended from the dining room through double doors into the living room), was tastefully decorated with vases of sweet peas, the center-piece being the large white wedding cake, decorated in yellow with 50 yellow candles on it. As there had been no sorrow or death in the family to cast a shadow upon the day, the dinner hour was another happy time added to the book of memories of the family. Seated in order, there was Billie, Chris, Winifred, Arthur, Lillian, Theodore, Ernest, and Roscoe, opposite in order their wives and husbands, Zelona, Agnes, Ray, Marguerite, Melvin, Georgia, and Theresa; with Father and Mother at the head of the table. It was at this time that Rev. R.R. Trent, son-in-law of Mr. & Mrs. Reust, performed the ceremony that renewed their wedding vows. The two course dinner was then served by 3 granddaughters, Evelyn and Naomi Trent, and Lucille Reust. Immediately after the family dinner, dinner was then served to the following relatives, Mr. Ezra Reust of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Sam Reust of Frankfort, Kansas, Mr. & Mrs. Arlie Myers and 3 children of Ripley, Okla; Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Wright and son of Okla. City, Mr. & Mrs. Sam Myers of Frankfort KS, and 14 grandchildren. A photographer of Oklahoma City was present and took several pictures. Open house was held for their friends from 6:30 till 9:30 and during that time a short program was given. Rev. Arthur Schufelt of the Friends Church gave a short talk followed by a prayer. 'Silver Threads Among the Gold' was sung by Rev. & Mrs. Trent, Mr. Reust and Mrs. Wright. A poem, 'Half a Century' written by a friend was read by Mrs. Schufelt. 'The Family History' was read by Mr. Brewer. 'When You and I Were Young Maggie' was sung by a niece, Mrs. Blanche Wright. This song fit the Occasion to a Tee and will have a different meaning to the children since Maggie is their mother's name. Many beautiful and useful gifts were bestowed upon Mr. & Mrs. Reust. At 9 o'clock a plate lunch consisting of sandwiches, fruit salad, cake and coffee was served to 92 friends and relatives."
"HISTORY" On March 13, 1885 Margaret Myers dau. of James & Katherine Myers, and Cornealius F. Reust, son of Mr. & Mrs. Chris Reust were happily united in marriage. This couple resided on the Abe Reust place now owned by Ranse (Ransom) Reust, northeast of Frankfort, KS. In 1899 they were lured to the sunny lands of Oklahoma, where they took up a homestead, hastily put up a little hut where a few weeks later their daughter, Lillian was born. (He made the Cherokee land run)(He later made a land run into Texas but his wife refused to go to Texas. He sold it and later, oil was discovered there.) Later in the year they built a lovely home, where the family lived for 9 years. Prosperity kept smiling on this union and in a short time they purchased the farm on which they now live. In 1916 they moved back to Kansas to the old Reust farm (to take care of their parents' place in the parents' old age) to be near loved ones, remaining there until 1923, when they decided to return to their home 4 miles NE of McLoud, OK. In 1924 they built a new and larger home on their farm, so they could entertain their children and grandchildren in comfort. Mr. & Mrs. Reust are the parents of 8 children, W.A. Reust, Okla. City, Chris Reust, Cheyenne, OK, Winifred Trent, Welty, OK, Arthur Reust, Okla. City, Lillian Farrant, Frankfort, KS, Theodore Reust, McLoud, OK, Ernest Reust, Okla. City, Roscoe Reust, Okla. City. There are 19 grandchildren.
