George Washington Reust, one of Guymon's most beloved figures, died while driving his car in the city's busiest business block. Investigating officers assume he suffered a heart attack. His car, out of control, smashed into 3 other vehicles befor stopping.He apparently had been in the best of health. He was winner at a skeet-shoot here last Sun. afternoon, gleefully taking home 3 lbs. of bacon as a prize. Despite his advanced age, it was only a short time back he quit riding his favorite vehicle - as home-made motorcycle. For many years he operated a blacksmith shop in Guymon. He used the motorcycle to commute between his farm home and Guymon.
In a phone conversation 14 JUL 1995 with James Reust (California) son of Simon Walter Reust, there were stories about George's blacksmith shop. One was that he had a large anvil which people would sometimes sit on when they came in. George hooked an old Ford coil up to the anvil, and when someone would sit on it, George would throw the switch.
